ayrmer software :: news :: three dimensional simulation :: october, 2009
Ayrmer Software have recently developed a three dimensional visulisation tool for
the gas and oil industry, enabling engineers to simulate the path a drill takes to reach its final position.
The project represents a continued business relationship with one of our clients and helps
their sales team show prospects how their product can overcome potential issues.
As part of the simulation users can rotate and move about the virtual world. The simulation
can be controlled using VCR-like controls. Java handles Level of Detail (LOD) solutions effortlessly
giving users the same experience from 10,000 feet or a close up view of 1 foot.
The Java 3D API is a three-dimensional graphics development tool that allowed Ayrmer
Software to produce this unique engineering application that represents actual wells
based on data collected during surveys.

Java 3D enables developers to create fully customised universes capable of advanced techniques.
In addition these can be viewed over the internet via an applet or downloaded using the Java deployment 'WebStart'.
Java has a huge number of libraries including loaders enabling you to import 3D Studio Max and other
3D models directly into a programmable world.
For more information about the background to this project see simulation software.
