web development :: subscription management systems
We have developed a number of different websites that use a subscription based business model, including
NRG Business Networks and
BBC Archive (part of the Forex Training
Works group of websites). Both of these business websites use subscription payments for managing membership based services and payments are processed using SagePay (formerly called Protx).
SagePay provides the facilities for managing pre-authorised payments and payments that can
then be used to process repeat payments for future subscription payments. We have recently re-developed the BBC Archive for
Forex Training Works who provide
Foreign Exchange training courses and post course support and course material via the BBC Archive, having previous developed their
e-commerce payment gateway for the courses (last year).
subscription management system user interface
The BBC Archive consists of two areas; the first alllows members to access the course material; the second is
a subscription management system that allows Forex Training Works to manage the subscription payments (shown above). The system
allows administrators to track payment history and perhaps more importantly, track payment failures, enabling them to
find out why subscription payments haven't been successful. In many cases it is simple a case of the subscribers credit / debit card
expiring and the system allows users to prompt the subscriber to submit new card details.
The NRG Business Networks system is more complex in that it manages the payments for the network membership as well as
the network lunches, but essentailly uses a similar approach to the BBC Archive.
